World Race 2011 To Stop In Effingham
Breaking News in Effingham. I just found out that the cars and drivers of the historic World Race 2011, from New York to Paris will be stopping by the MYGarage Museum on April 19th at around 11:30 AM for a lunch stop. This race has participants that are of special interest to Mid America Motorworks:
Price Team Racing will make history with their mulit-fueled Chevrolet Corvette - able to run on 6 different fuels - proving that the automobile can travel around the world as our predecessor's proved in the original Great Race of 1908.
Ed and Janet Howle of Hillsborough, NC will be driving a 1967 VW Beetle Sedan, Stewball, on this journey as the race travels 23,500 miles through 12 different countries!
Come out to the MYGarage Museum and see the cars and meet the contestants!
Team Owner Jerry Price of Plymouth, WI, will be the lead driver and technician. Larry Schuricht of Kiel, WI will also be driving, along with Theresa Price, driver and navigator (U.S.). Ed Gaven of Yuba City, CA, Dennis Barfield, Roy Geigel along with Richard Goshert of Warsaw, IN will be the navigators as well.
Twenty-six cars from all over the world will be leaving Times Square in New York and traveling West through the United States, stopping at cities like Buffalo, Cleveland, Detroit, Warsaw, Indianapolis, Effingham, IL, St. Louis, Kansas City, Burlington, Grand Junction, Salt Lake City, Reno and San Francisco. There, they will board a ship with their cars and travel to Beijing, China. Driving through Kazakhstan, Russia, then to Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Poland, Germany, France, finishing at the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
