Corvettes at Barrett-Jackson Auction
Once again this year, the Corvette action at the Barrett-Jackson Auction in Scottsdale was comprised of almost 15% Corvettes for sale! From my count, I believe close to 135 Corvettes of various version were offered for sale at no reserve. For complete auction details click on Barrett-Jackson .
Of special interest to me were the Corvette Street machines (customs) that sold at very strong prices. I am used to seeing the original and restored Corvettes sell for big dollars, but seeing the hammer price on some of these cars was really "fun".
During the entire week at Barrett-Jackson, I am guessing over 1,500 cars found new homes and reported total sales at over $62MM. If you consider that Russo & Steele sold $21MM, RM Auction at $30.8 and the Gooding sales were about $34.9MM, the totla collector cars slae for the week were over $154,000,000! An astounding amount of money and over 2,000 collector cars!
If you have NEVER been to Phoenix/Scottsdale in January to participate and enjoy the auctions, get it on you calendars for 2012. The entire week is collector car, muscle car "and Corvette Heaven for all car enthusiasts.
